Q: Who can play in the Florida Cup?
The Florida Cup is an open competition, and any team (U-11 through U-18/19 from both genders) registered with US Club Soccer passes may participate.
Any player competing in the Florida Cup must have a US Club Soccer passcard registering them to the club of the team participating. Players from within the club may be placed on another team’s Florida Cup official roster provided it is age appropriate and is done so before the start of the first match of the tournament. Players may be added to the Roster at any time during the competition provided they have not previously played and or been rostered to any Florida Cup Competition.
Q: What is the tournament format?
After teams are seeded in each birth year age group, the bracket format is released. The format varies depending on the number of teams in each age group. The tournament is a single-elimination format. All rounds are hosted by the higher seed until the final rounds that are hosted at a predetermined location. Game dates and times are flexible as long as they are completed by the round deadlines.
Q: What are the referee fees and who pays them?
The suggested referee fees are as follows:
U-11 – U-12 $40 for head referee, $20 each for two assistant referees
U-13 -U-14 : $50 for head referee, $25 each for two assistant referees.
U-15 – U-16: $60 for head referee, $30 each for two assistant referees
U-17 – U-19: $70 for head referee, $35 each for two assistant referees
Referee fees to be paid by the home team. Referee fees will be covered at the final four weekend by the Florida Cup.
Q: Is it possible to play in other events concurrently with the Florida Cup?
Yes, the Florida Cup dates and times are flexible. Each round has a window of time to play the game, which may be played any day of the week and at any kickoff time. If the two teams cannot agree on a game day or time, the game will be scheduled by the tournament director.
